Women’s Health Ministry

“Sister Survivor” Phase II is a multi-county healthy lifestyle program designed for and by African-American women that provides relevant health education and awareness in regard to breast cancer, encourages participants to obtain all recommended screenings, provides guidance on obtaining financial assistance for screenings, offers emotional and spiritual support, and provides opportunities for physical fitness activities during monthly meetings.
“Sister Survivor” Phase II is funded by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Mid-Missouri Affiliate Community Grant program and is currently being offered in the four Central Missouri counties of Randolph, Audrain, Chariton, and Howard. The project partners include the Minority Ministries Community Coalition, the Northeast Alliance Advisory Coalition of the Office of Minority Health, Northeast Missouri Clergy Coalition, and a select group of African-American Churches in each county.
Men’s Ministry

Helps men strengthen relationships with God and each other by working together to reach others, through cultivating personal relationships with Jesus Christ, by becoming better husbands, fathers, sons, and brothers, and by being servant leaders to the Church and Community at large.
Trustee’s Ministry

Responsible for the care and maintenance of the church property and for ensuring that the church adheres to budgeted operating expenses. This ministry also represents the church in legal matters and is responsible for ensuring that the church property is adequately insured and that all safety requirements are met.
Deacon Ministry

The deacons serve alongside the Pastor in the pastoral ministries of the church, proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers, provide care for church’s members and others in the community, and are the voice and hand that encourages people to change their lives with hope, comfort and peace.
Women’s Mission Ministry

Helps the church teach, train, and support all women in their spiritual growth through evangelism, outreach and education for mission and community service. The ministry meets weekly for an hour, and also provides community service by visiting and ministering to those homebound and/or in nursing homes.
Music Ministry

The purpose of the Music Ministry is to exhort, uplift, and encourage the body of Christ through song and worship. The Music Ministry includes the adult, youth, and mass choirs. The music ministry provides services at least once each week during worship services, and also signs monthly at nursing homes in the community.

Young People’s Department

Provides a variety of opportunities and experiences to draw youths into active, responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community, and to help youths grow personally and spiritually. Also seeks to help youths share their gifts, grow in life skills, develop a positive self-image, overcome prejudices, develop respect for differences, and serve those in need.

Usher Ministry

Helps connect people to God by creating an atmosphere of welcome and order for guests and members, and embraces the care and well-being of members and visitors during all functions held at Second Baptist Church.

Sunday School

Meets each Sunday morning for one hour. We lead learners to understand the Bible and to apply its truth to their lives. Each age division has its own unique course of study. The activities emphasize appropriate Biblical truth for each age level and builds in depth as students grow older.
Sunday school begins at 10am every Sunday morning.

Praise Dance Ministry

expressions as enrichment and ministry through inspired expressions of worship, praise and
dance.
